Rest your head: Le Meridien KL

Le Meridien Kuala LumpurFor those on a mid-range budget, or wanting a comfortable and convenient stopover, Kuala Lumpur’s Le Meridien Hotel offers exceptional value for money. Like most hotels, you need to book in advance online to get the best rates and whilst it’s not the cheapest option in the city we thought that our extra few dollars were very well spent. It can hardly be beaten in terms of convenience, not only for exploring the city but for getting to and from KLIA. You merely have to go down a couple of floors in the lift and cross the road and you are in KL Sentral, from where the 28 minute KLIA Ekspres trains head straight to the airport. If you are travelling with Malaysia Airlines you can even check in and hand over your luggage at the train station, making the journey so much easier. Le Meridien’s concierge even took all of our luggage right up to the check in desk for us on a trolley, something for which we were tremendously grateful as we were juggling large cases, a car seat, a trunki, a pram and an excited toddler. In fact, staff at Le Meridien were extremely attentive throughout our stay, and the hotel itself felt luxurious, having been recently and stylishly refurbished. The lobby was attractive and modern with free wifi and a range of cafes and chill out areas, our room was very well appointed and we all loved the gorgeous pool which is shared with the Hilton next door; curving amongst pleasant gardens it has well defined zones in order to accommodate everyone from families to those wanting a drink by the water or some peace and quiet. In short, it offered everything you would expect from a high end business class hotel, delivered by engaging and professional staff with the added benefit of a supremely convenient location. Rarely have we experienced quite such good value for money. Rates start at about £45 or $65 www.lemeridienkualalumpur.com Louise Alexander
