Eclipse on the Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier Reef CairnsIf you needed inspiration to visit tropical Queensland beyond the incredible rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef, this November might offer you a reason. Cairns will greet a fine spring morning on 14th November and then be plunged back into darkness as a total solar eclipse passes over the city. Cairns intends to celebrate the event with a marathon which will start as the sun re-emerges from behind the moon and with the Eclipse 2012 Festival, a six day Mayan themed arts and music extravaganza. You can find out more about the events and where to best view the eclipse around both Cairns and Port Douglas from the Cairns Tourist Board, visit www.eclipsecairns.com
