Exploring England in a classic camper

Yorkshire, EnglandWith the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, England has a lot to celebrate this summer. The coming months look set to be one of the best times to explore this historic and beautiful country…and one lucky traveller will be doing just that, embarking upon an amazing tour in a vintage camper van. The tourist board, VisitEngland, launched a nationwide campaign a couple of months ago to find England’s biggest fan. The winner, Rachel Kershaw, has won an all-expenses paid 70-day trip around the country.  She sets off today from the stunning alfresco theatre, the Minack, overlooking Porthcurno Bay close to Land’s End in Cornwall. Having wowed the judges with her passion for England and her zest for life,  Rachel is excited about kicking off a dream tour of her mother country: “This is the challenge and opportunity I’ve been waiting for! I can’t think of anything better than travelling around England in a vintage camper van and discovering new places. ”

The Minack Theatre, CornwallAs the Games draw closer, England’s biggest fan will explore those places that are illuminated by the Olympic torch, blogging and writing about what she finds along the way. Driving the length and breadth of the country in a classic camper van provided by O’Connors Campers, and staying in the Camping and Caravanning Club’s sites, Rachel will be getting to the heart and soul of England. You can keep track of Rachel’s English adventures via Facebook, Twitter (@faninvan), and www.visitenglandblog.com
