Rest your head: Tombstone Backpackers, Picton

Tombstone Backpackers, PictonLocally owned and operated, Tombstone Backpackers (located opposite the old cemetery!) is one of the new breed of ‘flashpackers’, a really nice place to stay that’s still excellent value for money. The quiet and fresh rooms range from dorms to ensuite doubles and there is also a small but perfectly formed self-contained apartment.  There is a nice, well equipped kitchen, friendly lounges, a pool table, a hot tub and a pleasant garden for sunny afternoons. The location is good – handy for both the ferry and all of Picton’s shops and cafes. Best of all, breakfast is included and features scrumptious, hot homemade cheese scones, as well as toast and cereals. A great place to begin your tour of New Zealand’s beautiful South Island. www.tombstonebp.co.nz
