Hotel pops up in Mexico

Popping up in Tulum, Mexico next week (an hour or so from Cancun) is a stylish pop-up camp by Design Hotels called Papaya Playa Project. There are 99 cabanas ranging from basic to luxurious, a beach-shack bar, lounge, live DJs, full-moon parties and spa treatments inspired by Mayan shaman secrets, all of which will be available until early May 2012 along a 900 metre stretch of virgin beach facing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Katerholzig, the most recent offspring of Berlin’s legendary Bar 25, will be serving up seasonal local food from the grill and out of the clay oven while 42°RAW, already making waves in organic gastronomy, will provide plant-based food-on-the-go. Prices range from $25-$675 per night, visit papayaplayaproject.com to book.
