Asia, Great places to stay

Rest your head: Old Bangkok Inn, Thailand

It’s hard to find somewhere as unique and charming as the Old Bangkok Inn in Thailand’s buzzing capital. Combining the charm of old Bangkok with modern comforts, it is located in the heart of the city’s historic and cultural districts, on a site that has been in the family for seven generations. The hotel provides a personal touch, and each bedroom in the historic building has been individually restored to recreate traditional elegance. The ten rooms are named and decorated with Thai floral themes such as Lemongrass and Lotus. The inn is also a ‘green hotel’ working hard to reduce its impact on the environment, using solar energy and supporting local communities through initiatives such as the Daughters’ Education Programme. Conde Nast Traveller included the inn on their 2006 hot list. Until September 30th, guests can enjoy a free night when they book two or more nights. For more info visit www.oldbangkokinn.com
