Miss it miss out! April events

As Spring comes to the northern hemisphere, there’s a whole host of great events and festivals. Here’s our choice of some of the best that April has to offer around the world.

England: The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race
3 April
A tradition dating back to 1829 when up to 250,000 people line the Thames in London to catch a glimpse of this thrilling race between the famous universities, starting at Putney. This year sees the 156th race! Visit http://www.theboatrace.org for top tips on where to view the race from.

Thailand: Songkran Festival
13-15 April
The new year water festival, especially lively in Chiang Mai, with four days of parades, fancy dress and water being thrown everywhere.

Spain: La Feria de Abril

20-25 April
The famous Spring Fair in Seville, the city’s best party with traditional dress, colourful parades, Flamenco dancing and raucous parties.

Netherlands: Orange Festival
30 April
Amsterdam’s Orange Festival, or Queens Day, is a well celebrated and liberal holiday with plenty of beer, a massive street and canal-boat dance party, and everyone wearing Orange.

England, Cheltenham International Jazz Festival

28 April – 3 May
The UK’s top jazz festival set in a truly lovely location in Gloucestershire, always with a fabulous mix of music. Check out http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.com for more info about this year’s line up.
